Jikoji’s Sunday Program is a weekly “open house” and great way to get to know this unique Zen temple in the hills above Silicon Valley and experience our Zen practice. Each week is lead by a different teacher and includes meditation instruction, meditation practice, a traditional Zen Buddhist service, and a brief lecture on Zen. Afterwards you are invited to join us for a social lunch (which can be eaten outdoors if you prefer).
Dan will be leading our program this week, and his weeks are especially oriented toward beginners!
The usual schedule is:
10:00am Zazen (sitting meditation) or meditation instruction for newcomers
10:40am Kinhin (walking meditation)
10:50am Zazen
11:20am Zen service
11:40am Lecture
12:30am Lunch
You are welcome to join us for any or all of the morning, although beginners are encouraged to arrived before 10am so they can join the meditation instruction. You can also linger afterwards to enjoy the grounds or hike the myriad trails around the temple.
You can find more information at the Jikoji web site here. There is no fee for this event and registration is not required, but donations to the temple are greatly appreciated.
